AI is a now a political candidate

An artificial intelligence candidate, AI Steve, is on the ballot for the UK’s general election. AI Steve, created by Neural Voice and represented by a Sussex businessman, aims to offer constant communication with constituents through AI.

“People can ask AI Steve questions or share their opinions on Endacott’s policies on its website, during which a large language model will give answers in voice and text based on a database of information about his party’s policies.”

Using a large language model, AI Steve answers policy questions and gathers opinions to form official party policies. However, the rise of AI in politics raises significant concerns. In the future, large language models (LLMs) will heavily influence opinions and decisions, making transparency and ethical considerations crucial. Politicians could use AI as an easy scapegoat, complicating accountability. As AI integrates into political processes, ensuring responsible use and maintaining public trust will become increasingly important.
